Who are we?
We are a group of outdoor enthusiasts who share a passion for cycling. If you love being outside, enjoy riding in nature, and seek both personal challenges and great friendships, then Padre’s Peddlers is the perfect cycling community for you. We ride together, supporting and encouraging one another, ensuring that no one is left behind. Join us if you are looking to improve your health, both physically and mentally, and forge lasting friendships.
Our rides are organized throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Prior to each ride, we will send out emails to all registered members with the details. The specific route will generally be on established bike paths, taking into account the preferences of the riders. The pace of our rides may vary to accommodate different skill levels.
Please take a moment to register below. As part of the registration process, you will be required to sign the Release Form. To ensure effective communication regarding ride dates and other updates, we kindly ask you to provide us with your email address and cell phone number. Additionally, it is important that you come prepared with the necessary gear: a helmet, a tool kit with a spare tube, ample hydration, and a cheerful attitude!

Padre’s Peddlers caters to all levels of riders. One group took a leisurely ride up the Fox River Trail to South Elgin and returned by the Prairie Path through Wayne. A second group briskly rode to East Dundee and back on the Fox
River Trail, stopping midway at Rosie O’Hare’s Public House for a

Parish Blessing Ride
On Sunday, July 23, Fr. Peck led the group around the St. John Neumann parish boundary and performed a prayer and blessing at all the corners. The 25 mile ride took about two hours using bike paths and some street riding. We had a great time getting to know each other and catching up on goings-on.”
Padre’s Peddlers next ride will be August 6, “Ride to West Dundee” and back on the Fox River Trail, 12-18 MPH, 35 miles. We will meet at the SJN rectory at 1:30 pm. We’ll turn around at the Dundee Tourist Center (water & bathrooms), or grab an iced coffee at Eastside Café.
Swedish Day Ride
On July 9, 2023, St. John Neumann’s Padre’s Peddlers participated in the annual Fox Valley Bike and Ski Club’s Swedish Day’s Ride, the premier cycling event in Northern Illinois, now in its 53rd year. Led by Father David Peck, our team of 11 riders conquered the challenging route, with Fr. Peck providing a heartfelt blessing and prayer to kick-start our journey.
The Fox Valley Bike and Ski Club is committed to promoting safe cycling, education, advocacy, infrastructure development, and cycling opportunities for people with disabilities. In fact, 95% of the proceeds from this event go towards supporting these important causes.
The Swedish Day Ride offered a range of routes, from a leisurely 25 miles to the iconic Double Metric Century spanning 131 miles! And yes, you guessed it right, Father David opted for the incredible 131-mile route and triumphantly completed it in just eight hours.
The excitement surrounding Padre’s Peddlers is growing, with more and more individuals seeking to join us to enjoy the countless benefits of health, laughter, and exercise. Throughout the summer, we will organize rides near and far, catering to various skill levels. Rest assured, our rides follow a “no drop” policy, ensuring that no one gets left behind. Your safety is our utmost priority, and we strictly adhere to safe cycling guidelines.
