40 Days for Life is a worldwide campaign to end abortion through 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting, Peaceful Vigil, and Community Outreach.  God used 40 days repeatedly to bring about transformations. Prayer and Fasting:  Prayer is at the center of 40 Days for Life.  Pray at home.  Pray at church.  Pray with your family. Pray every day during these 40 days, from September 25-November  3.  People are also encouraged to fast during this time.  A fast is a powerful means of drawing closer to God by blocking out distractions.  Fast from certain foods.  Fast from TV.  Fast from apathy and indifference.  Fast from electronics.  Fast from whatever it is that separates you from God. Peaceful Vigil:  The visible, public centerpiece of 40 Days for Life is a 40 day, non-stop, round-the-clock prayer vigil outside of facilities that provide abortions around the world.  Peaceful prayer outside such a facility is a witness to the value of the lives lost there.  The vigil might be the only act of love these children are shown.  The round-the-clock prayer presence reminds the community about the tragic reality of abortion.  The local vigil will be held at 3055 E. New York Avenue in Aurora, directly across the street from Planned Parenthood.  Our parish’s day of prayer will be on Friday, October 18 (midnight-midnight). If you did not have the chance to sign up today at Mass, register for an hour of prayer on this day (or any day),  at 40daysforlife.com. God’s Plan for peace and an end to abortion needs you! Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
